Police investigating a serious multi vehicle collision in the Fenay Bridge area of Huddersfield on Friday evening have charged a man with a number of offences. 

Josh Boyle 20 of Blagden Lane, Huddersfield has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, causing serious injury by Dangerous driving, disqualified driving, fail to provide for a drink driving procedure, and failing to stop for police. 

He’s been remanded to appear at Leeds magistrates this morning. (14 August)

It’s after a road traffic collision at 8.50pm on Friday 11 August on Penistone Road.

Sergeant Cameron Buchan of the Western Roads Policing Unit, said: 

“This was an extremely serious collision and it’s very fortunate that the consequences were not even worse. 

“We are continuing to appeal for information and CCTV or dash cam footage regarding the road traffic collision.

“We now believe the passenger in the VW Golf ran off from Police, and are keen to locate the passenger as they may have received serious injuries, we need to check that they are safe and well. 

“I would like to thank to local community of Fenay Bridge and the people that were in the local bar and restaurant who helped emergency services in the aftermath of the collision. We are very grateful for the support.”

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious multi vehicle collision in the Fenay Bridge area of Huddersfield.

The Western Area Roads Policing Unit would like to speak to anyone who saw or has footage of the collision involving three cars outside Harvey’s Bar and Kitchen on Penistone Road, Huddersfield on the evening of Friday August 11.

It took place at 8.50pm after a black Volkswagen Golf was in collision with vehicles causing extensive damage.

The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles received serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.  Persons from the other vehicles received minor injuries. 

The black VW Golf had failed to stop for police in the Shelley area about five minutes before the collision and officers were in the early stages of a pursuit when the collision took place.

The driver of the Golf, a 20-year-old man, was taken to hospital following the collision and has now been discharged.

He has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is in police custody for questioning.

Sergeant Cameron Buchan of the Western Roads Policing Unit, said: “Multiple enquiries remain ongoing today into what has very clearly been an extremely serious collision.  
“Frankly, it is very fortunate the consequences were not even worse and I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened or has footage of the collision itself to come forwards.
“Our officers would also like to speak with anyone who saw or has footage of the black VW Golf driving shortly before this collision took place – especially those with Dash Cam recordings. “
