A motorcyclist who was fighting for his life in hospital after a horror crash on the A34 in Cheshire is now stable police have said.

The 47-year-old was badly injured when his white and blue Suzuki motorbike was involved in a collision with a white Ford Transit van on the stretch of the A34 in Handforth between the Polar Ford roundabout and the Tesco at Handforth Dean.

Emergency services raced to the scene just after 1pm.

The bike rider was rushed to hospital with injuries that were said to be life-threatening.

He was now in a stable condition Cheshire Police said in an update today.

The road was closed for several hours whilst police dealt with the aftermath and carried out enquiries.

An investigation into the smash is ongoing they added.

Officers say they are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision take place or who may have dashcam footage that could assist with their enquiries.
